Job Title: 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant
Axcis Education are working with a lovely Secondary Mainstream school dedicated to supporting children with autism and complex needs in Chingford. The school are seeking a caring and proactive full time SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team. If you are passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with autism and other complex learning needs, this role offers the opportunity to provide invaluable support in a nurturing and inclusive setting. Key Responsibilities: - Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support to students with Autism and complex needs, helping them engage with the curriculum and develop key life skills. - Assist the class teacher in delivering lessons and adapting resources to meet the individual needs of students. - Assist in managing challenging behaviours, using de-escalation techniques and positive behaviour support strategies. Essential Requirements: - Experience working with children or young people with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) or complex learning needs. - A good understanding of autism, sensory processing, and communication strategies such as PECS, Makaton, or visual supports. - Patience, empathy, and resilience when supporting students who may display challenging behaviours.
