Job Title: Agency Workers – Special Needs Support
Pay: £83-£90 per day dependent on experience Hours: 08:30-15:30 Type: Monday - Friday Start Date: October 2024 Role: SEN Teaching Assistant Axcis is currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our team on a full-time basis in St Austell. As an Agency Support Staff member, you will have the rewarding opportunity to work one-on-one with a child who has ADHD, Autism, exhibits challenging behaviours, and is non-verbal. This role involves providing targeted support and assistance both within the classroom environment and potentially in other settings as required. Key Responsibilities: - Deliver personalised care and educational support to a child with special educational needs (SEN). - Engage the child in learning activities that cater to their individual abilities and interests. - Employ effective behaviour management techniques to handle challenging behaviour positively and constructively. - Assist the child with non-verbal communication strategies and support their social integration. - Provide personal care assistance as needed, respecting the child's dignity and promoting independence. - Work closely with the classroom teacher, SENCO, and other professionals to implement and adapt learning plans. - Monitor the child's progress, recording observations, and providing feedback to relevant parties. - Attend and participate in meetings and training sessions as required to support the child's development. - Ensure a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment that fosters learning and growth. Requirements: - Prior experience supporting children with SEN, particularly those with ADHD, Autism, and challenging behaviours. - Familiarity with strategies for supporting non-verbal children. - Ability to perform personal care tasks with sensitivity and professionalism. - A patient, reliable, and resilient character with a strong commitment to the child's educational and emotional well-being. - Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with colleagues, parents, and external agencies. - A minimum of two professional references. - An Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo this procedure). - Relevant qualifications in education or SEN support are desirable but not mandatory. The successful candidate must understand that this position requires a high degree of dedication and flexibility.
