Axcis are looking to appoint a hard working teaching assistant for a small behavioural unit in the East Lancashire area.
The school is smaller than average and specifically caters for KS2 - 4 students who have additional needs and challenging behaviours. The school caters for students with SEMH difficulties, autism, ADHD, ODD, Personality Disorder and general behavioural difficulties. The school is based in the East Lancashire area, between Blackburn and Accrington and has plenty of on site parking, as it is not accessible via public transport. The school has friendly, welcoming staff who work very well together as a team and the school have been commended for their behaviour management stratergies in their most recent Ofsted report.
The role is full time and school hours are 8.35am - 3.15pm Monday - Friday. You may be expected to stay late on a couple of occasions during the week if pupils transport hasn't arrived, but this will be on a rota basis. The role will require you to work on a 1:1 and small group basis with children who can display challenging behaviours. You will be expected to assist them in their school work and help them understand and regulate their emotions. The role will start as soon as possible and is long term, likely until the summer holidays or beyond.
The candidate suited to this role will have experience working with pupils who have additional needs and / or challenging behaviours. The candidate should be empathetic, compassionate and confident whilst also have strong behaviour management statergies in their tool box. The candidate must be a good team player, have experience of working with children with SEND and challenging behaviour and be seeking a long term role in the East Lancashire area. Pay for this role is negotiable and you will be paid on a weekly basis!
