A warm and welcoming mainstream primary school and family centre is looking to recruit an enthusiastic, experienced 1:1 SEND teaching assistant to work with a student in Year 4.

About the role
The role as a 1:1 SEND teaching assistant will be supporting a male student in Year 4 who has a diagnosis of autism. The child has a personalised curriculum which has been adapted to most effectively meet his needs. You will be working on a 1:1 basis with this student for half the day. In the afternoons, you will be supporting in the Early Years and KS1 classes as a general teaching assistant. You must be flexible and adaptable to meet the school’s requirements.
About the ideal applicant
The ideal 1:1 SEND teaching assistant will have:
• Experience working as a 1:1 teaching assistant in a primary school with a student with complex needs. Experience with autism is desirable.
• A good understanding of autism, patience, flexibility and empathy.
• Excellent references and a good attendance record.
• Good communication and organisation skills. These are essential to effectively work alongside the teachers, SENCo and family of the child.
To apply for the role, you must be available to work Monday to Friday during school hours (08:30-3:30pm) from 5th July 2022. The school would like the candidate to start before the end of the academic year to start to develop a relationship with the student.
This is a long-term role continuing in September 2022.
