I am resourcing support staff for an exceptional setting in Cinderford, The Forest of Dean and the role will be starting ASAP and be hugely rewarding supporting adults who have very high functioning Autism and display extremely challenging behaviour towards themselves and others.
The setting is one of many across Gloucestershire and they each provide client centred support for adults with learning difficulties and Autism. This particular setting is looking for individuals who have experience of Autism, Learning difficulties and most importantly are resilient and confident in dealing with extremely challenging behaviour on a daily basis.
The shifts that the setting are looking for support staff to cover are 07.00-14.30 hrs and 14.30-22.00hrs with the option of 07.00-22.00hrs for those looking for a longer day. Each support worker would be working a fixed rota of 37 hours per week over a month with clear outlines of who you would be supporting and when. The role of the support worker would be to assist another member of staff in providing individual tailored support throughout the day, going out on visits and social interactions and assisting the individual with their day to day routine.
The setting is seeking individuals to work with the adults ASAP and those who are successful would, prior to their first shift, be required to attend two paid training sessions. These training sessions would be in Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and Positive Behaviour Management (PBM) and would be essential for candidates to have a greater understanding of how to support the individuals they would be working with on a day to day basis.
Due to the requirements of the role, it would be desirable if the successful candidate had access to their own transport / a clear driving license as you would be driving the settings own vehicles and also had additional training in Epilepsy / Medication etc. Please note that it is not essential to have additional training as lots of training would be given and then refreshed often, however the setting has asked that those with transferable training to make this known.
The main attributes of successful, suitable support workers for this role are those who are resilient, consistent, empathetic and reliable. For the supported individual, it is crucial that those supporting him understand that consistency and teamwork are crucial, are able to follow instructions well and understand and engage with supporting other members of staff and supported individuals alike.
Due to the urgency with needing to find the right support for these individuals, please only get in touch if you fit the above criteria and if so, I look forward to hearing from you.
