Job Title: ASD Teaching Assistant
Axcis Education is currently seeking an experienced and compassionate ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) Teaching Assistant to join a modern and supportive school in the educational sector in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of students with ASD. Responsibilities: - Work closely with individuals or small groups of students with ASD to provide in-class support or one-to-one assistance. - Implement personalized educational plans designed by the teaching staff to meet each student's unique needs. - Assist with the development and delivery of educational materials that are tailored to the students' abilities and interests. - Utilize various communication aids and strategies to promote effective engagement and understanding. - Monitor and report on the progress of the students to teachers and other relevant professionals. - Foster a safe, nurturing, and stimulating classroom environment that is conducive to learning. - Encourage social interaction and help students to develop appropriate social skills. - Collaborate with teaching staff, parents/carers, and other professionals, such as speech and language therapists or educational psychologists. - Manage challenging behavior in a patient and understanding manner, using positive reinforcement and adhering to the school's behavior policies. Requirements: - Proven experience as a Teaching Assistant, preferably with children who have ASD. - A patient, empathetic, and approachable demeanour. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. - Ability to work effectively as part of a team and under the supervision of classroom teachers. - Strong organizational skills and the ability to adapt quickly to changing situations. - A commitment to inclusive education and a passion for making a positive difference in the lives of students with special educational needs.
