Job Title: Classroom Assistant (Nurture Group)
Axcis Education are seeking a primary Learning Support Assistant who will also have the role as a behaviour mentor to work in an Alternative Provision in Exeter supporting children in Reception, KS1 and KS2. All the children at the school have Social Emotional Mental Health Needs from past traumatic events in their lives. The children are very vulnerable, delicate and struggle to build relationships with adults and their peers. You will be working on a 1-1 basis with a range of children in the small class of around 8-10 pupils.
The academy is an Alternative Provision providing education for children from 4-16 years of age. All of the children that attend the provision have been either excluded from mainstream schooling or transferred by the council with the intention of transitioning back in to mainstream school or leaving for further education.
As an LSA and Behaviour mentor it is vital that you work with the children with compassion, empathy and nurturing attitude. The children are delicate from their situations whether they have been in care, abused or neglected. The curriculum is equipped to give the children a range of skills to progress socially, academically and creatively. As an LSA you will be working with the children using play therapy methods and creating positive relationships to enable a successful transition back in to main stream schooling.
The ideal candidate will receive additional training with the school. This is a full time job working Monday to Friday from 8:30 to 3:30 paying a rate of £75 - £80 per day. This role is a long term role starting ASAP.
