Job Title: Early Years Special Needs Teaching Assistant - Islington - Complex Needs
London - North
A primary school based in Islington are seeking to appoint an exceptional special needs teaching assistant to join the Early Years team ASAP. The role involves working closely with several children who have EHCPs in place as well as providing support to the wider school community as required. Part of the role will entail developing strong relationships with parents, carers and children alike. You may act as a Key Person for a small group of children with high needs, taking responsibility for their social and emotional wellbeing and their learning throughout their time with us. The ideal special needs teaching assistant will be hard working, friendly and outgoing. They will have an enthusiasm for working with children, particularly those with special educational needs. They will have a talent for engaging with sometimes complex children, encouraging social interaction, developing independence, self esteem and encouraging all individuals to achieve their goals. The right person will be confident in dealing with challenging behaviour and understanding complex special educational needs. About the role: o Early Years Special Needs Teaching Assistant - working with Complex Needs o Full time, (Mon-Fri) The ideal candidate: o Experience Complex Needs " Able to handle challenging behaviour o PECS and Makaton - not essential but highly desirable.
