Axcis Education are currently looking to recruit a Tutor to provide 1:1 intervention and catch up sessions for secondary age pupils.
Axcis work closely with a secondary school based in the Bury area, this school caters for KS3 / 4 pupils, many of whom come from disadvantaged backgrounds and / or display challenging behaviours. Due to the effect of Covid19, a number of the students are now in need of some catch up intervention sessions and they are looking to appoint a hard working teacher to provide these sessions, both online and face to face. The school is based centrally in Bury with close links to public transport and the staff team are very inclusive and welcoming.
The role is full time, initially online, approximately 30 hours per week, however, the role is likely to become pupil facing, in school, within the next 6 - 8 weeks so candidates must be able to reach the Bury area for work. You will be asked to deliver a range of subjects, help will be given with planning, although your main focus will be English and maths, GCSE and Functional Skills.
The role will require you to work with identified key students who require additional support / catch up sessions, in some cases, these pupils will have additional needs and in most cases, the student will be disengaged from education, therefore it is imperative that you can deliver engaging lessons.
The candidate must hold a teaching qualification, ideally have QTS too, but applications are open to FE qualified teachers if they have English and maths experience. The candidate should have experience teaching secondary age students and ideally have experience working with students who have SEND and / or display challenging behaviours. The role is likely to continue for the rest of the academic year and pay is hourly, paid on a weekly basis at a competitive rate.
