Job Title: Residential Teaching Assistant

Axcis are recruiting for a candidate in Exeter that has worked in these roles or similar who want to move on in an academic residential environment working with secondary pupils with severe challenging behaviour. We are looking for a full time teaching assistant to assist education with children in residential placements. You will be working from Monday to Friday from 8:30 – 3:30 paying a rate of £70 - £75 per day.
The trust’s service provides a personalised education package to complex statemented or EHCP pupils at risk of having to be educated in residential placements. The pupils have failed to succeed in Devon secondary and special schools or are returning from out of County placements. The model is based on a successful service practiced in Plymouth.
Your responsibilities will be to work, one to one support with a child and work alongside a bespoke timetable following thematic learning experiences. This is a personalised learning package for the individual child which you will be assisting and monitoring in the classroom. We are looking for people who are good role models and can provide each pupil a trusting relationship so they can progress in society and value others. It is important that you can be resilient, robust and professional in de-escalation techniques. Axcis expect the ideal candidate to be reliable, consistent and hands on who can adapt quickly in their surroundings.
For this role we require the candidate to have the following:
• GCSE English – C or Above
• GCSE Math – C or Above
• Level 3 in Childcare or Level 3 in Health and Social or a Children Social Care Certificate
