Axcis are looking to recruit a qualified Science Teacher to teach at a Pupil Referral Unit in Dartington. You will be teaching secondary pupils who are most vulnerable in the community, with an aim to return to regular schooling or by completing year 11 at the academy. This is a full time role, working Monday to Friday from 8:30 to 4:45, paying a daily rate of £140 to £160.
The academy is located in a beautiful area with wonderful surroundings. The academy is a primary and secondary school. The students arrive at various points of their education system. The schools purpose is to support students to create a future, where everyone can develop and succeed. Overall the goal is for the students to return to school. The academy tailor the curriculum to meet the needs of the students, developing a range of skills knowledge, attitudes and understanding so all our students can aspire to their full potential.
For this role you must have:
• NQT, PGCE and/or QTS certification
• SEND teaching experience in special need school settings, interventions or PRU’s
• Availability to work 8:30am-3:45pm, Monday to Friday in September
• A positive and nurturing approach to teaching
• Experience with planning based on EHCPs or using resources such as PECS, Makaton or TEACCH is highly desirable but not essential
• Understanding Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs.
• A professional approach to behaviour management
• A resilient, confident and dedicated attitude.
