Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant
Are you ready to support and empower students with conditions such as mild to moderate Autistic Spectrum Disorders, language impairment, emotional issues, sensory needs, and medical needs? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for a caring and dedicated Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join our team at our all-through special needs school in Chessington. Position: Special Needs Teaching Assistant (Full-Time) Key Responsibilities: • Collaborate with teachers to create and implement personalized educational plans for students with diverse needs. • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students, both in and outside the classroom, to facilitate their learning and development. • Foster a safe and inclusive learning environment that promotes independence, self-confidence, and positive social interactions. • Assist students in developing communication and language skills, as well as managing emotional challenges effectively. • Support students with sensory and medical needs, ensuring their well-being and comfort throughout the school day. • Observe and record students'' progress, contributing to assessments and reports as required. • Work closely with the SENCO and other staff to maintain a cohesive and supportive learning environment for all students. Requirements: • Previous experience working with students with diverse special needs is highly desirable, though not mandatory. We welcome applicants with a genuine passion for making a positive impact in the lives of these students. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, allowing you to build strong relationships with students, staff, and parents/guardians. • Patience, empathy, and adaptability to respond effectively to the varying needs of students. • A proactive approach to learning and professional development, with a desire to continually improve your skills and knowledge in special needs education. • Relevant qualifications or certifications in special needs education or related fields would be advantageous.
