Job Title: SEND Mentor - 1:1/ SEMH - KS3/4 Bolton
JOB LOCATION:
Bolton
A specialist SEND setting in Bolton is looking for an experienced 1:1 learning support mentor to join them on a longer-term basis from October. The learning support mentor will have experience supporting secondary aged students with a behavioural needs such as SEMH. Though experience in this field is important, an ability to understand students with behavioural needs is the essential factor. An ability to behaviour manage and de-escalate/ distract is required. MAPA training is desired but not essential, as the school has the facilities to train agency members of staff who are working on a longer-term basis. This is a 1:1 support role, where the ideal candidate will work on a 1:1 basis with a KS3 student with SEMH and challenging behaviour. There is a strong emphasis on relationship building, distraction and de-escalation techniques. The role is full-time, 5 days a week and is based on one site in Bolton. Working hours would be 8.30am-4pm. This specialist school caters for secondary aged pupils who have been excluded from mainstream education and demonstrate, at times, very challenging behaviour. The school needs someone who is experienced in a similar environment where challenging behaviour is prevalent. The school is close to major motorways as well as links to public transport from Lancashire and Greater Manchester. This is a temporary position. If you are interested, then please contact Thomas Faithwaite at Axcis Education on 0161 507 9397.
