Job Title: Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Teacher Location: Preston Position Type: Full Time Salary: Competitive, based on experience We are seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated, and compassionate SEND Teacher to join our reputable educational institution that caters to a diverse student population in primary, secondary and SEND provisions in the Preston area. As a SEND Teacher, you will play a vital role in ensuring that students with a range of learning difficulties and disabilities receive tailored support and quality education that meets their unique needs. Key Responsibilities: - Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons that cater to the individual learning needs and abilities of students within the SEND provision. - Employ a variety of teaching methods and resources, including technology, to promote the educational, social, and emotional development of students. - Develop Individual Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with other educational professionals and parents to set and review targets for each student. - Regularly assess and record students' progress, providing feedback and reporting to parents, guardians, and relevant bodies as required. - Manage classroom behavior effectively, implementing strategies that foster a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment. - Provide guidance and support to teaching assistants and learning support staff within the classroom. - Liaise with multidisciplinary teams, including speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, educational psychologists, and social services, to ensure a holistic approach to the students' well-being. - Keep up to date with developments in SEND education practices and participate in continuous professional development opportunities. - Promote the general progress and well-being of pupils within your care. - Comply with policies and procedures regarding child safeguarding, health and safety, confidentiality, and data protection. Essential Criteria: - Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification recognised in the UK. - Proven experience working with children with SEND within a primary and/or secondary setting. - An in-depth understanding of SEND Code of Practice and the ability to implement effective strategies in the classroom. - A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to teaching and supporting students with additional needs. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building rapport with students, colleagues, and parents. - A commitment to inclusive education and a belief in the potential of all students. - Enhanced DBS check or willingness to undergo checks. Desirable Qualifications: - A postgraduate qualification in Special Educational Needs (SEN) or a related field. - Experience in the use of assistive technology and communication aids.
