Axcis Education are looking to recruit a Teaching Assistant for a special educational needs school in the East Lancashire area.
The school is based on the outskirts of Blackburn and caters specifically for children with autism, PMLD, physical disabilities, global delay and learning difficulties. The school is larger than average for an SEND school and has a separate provision catering exclusively for children with autism and associated behaviours. The school is judged "outstanding" by Ofsted and the staff team are welcoming and inclusive. The school building is brand new and has a range of excellent facilities, including a state of the art sensory room and an on-site outdoor gym.
The role of the teaching assistant successful for this role will be to work on a small group basis with pupils who require additional support. You may be expected to work with children who require personal care and / or assistance at meal times. You will be expected to support the class teacher in the day to day running of the class and behaviour management. The role is full time and school hours are 8.30am - 3.30pm Monday - Friday.
The candidate successful for this role must have experience working with children with SEND, although this does not have to be from an educational setting. The candidate should be enthusiastic, resilient, have a good sense of humour and be a team player! The candidate successful for this role will benefit from weekly pay at a competitive rate and a long term role in a forward thinking SEND provision.
