Job Title: Social and Emotional Teaching Assistant
A great opportunity has arisen for a hardworking, reliable and positive Teaching Assistant with a can do attitude, who has worked with both Primary and Secondary aged pupils. The school is an all boys Special school specializing in Autism, ADHD and SEMH. As soon as you walk in to the school you feel welcomed with a family orientated staff policy. The ideal candidate must be available from 8:30 – 3:30, 5 days a week not including weekends. You will be paid weekly, every Friday and receive £75 - £80 per day.
The school is very well resourced with a nurturing understanding in to the lives of the children when they are at home. Many of the pupils that attend the school have been in care, or been through traumatic events where they have been neglected therefore not being able to build trustworthy relationships with adults. Every classroom has a toaster and drinks to feed the children anytime they want. There are spaces outside each classroom where children can go when triggered to create a safe space for them and the other pupils.
As a teaching assistant you will be supporting pupils on a 1-1 basis in the classroom. The class sizes are very small, only 6-8 pupils per class including a Teacher and other TA’s that will be working alongside you. You will be a role model for the pupils and also need to be prepared for challenging behaviour. The furniture in all classes are attached to the floor to create a safe space. The ideal candidate must have at least 1 year experience working with children with behavioral difficulties and understand positive strategies in managing conflict.
