Job Summary:
A reputable school in Preston, Lancashire is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Sports Coach Teaching Assistant to join our team. This role is perfect for individuals with a strong background in sports coaching who are looking to transition into a teaching assistant role. The ideal candidate will use their experience in sports to inspire, motivate, and support students in both their academic and physical education.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist teachers in the planning and delivery of lessons and physical education sessions, ensuring all activities are engaging and appropriate for the age and ability of students.
- Use your sports coaching background to develop innovative programs and activities that promote physical health, teamwork, and sportsmanship among students.
- Provide one-on-one support to students requiring additional help, particularly with their physical education.
- Encourage student participation in sports and physical activities, identifying talents and providing extra guidance to nurture their abilities.
- Serve as a positive role model and mentor, instilling discipline, respect, and a love of sports and healthy living.
- Support the organisation and supervision of sports events, competitions, and extracurricular activities.
- Prepare and maintain sports equipment and ensure the safety of all sports facilities.
- Monitor and report on student progress and behavior, working in partnership with teachers and parents to support the students’ educational development.
- Attend and actively participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in sports coaching, with a track record of developing and implementing coaching strategies.
- A passion for sports and physical education with the ability to engage and motivate young learners.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of building rapport with students, staff, and parents.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team and contribute to a supportive school environment.
- A relevant coaching qualification or evidence of ongoing sports coaching education.
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
- Enhanced DBS check.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in an educational setting or with children in a learning environment.
- A Teaching Assistant qualification or willingness to work towards obtaining one.
