Axcis Education are looking to appoint a support assistant for a role in an SEND school in the Greater Manchester area.
The school is smaller than average and caters exclusively for pupils with autism, PMLD, MLD, physical disabilities and challenging behaviours. The school is based within Greater Manchester, towards the Radcliffe area and the school isn't very accessible via public transport so ideally, candidates will have access to a car. The school is Ofsted judged "good" and behaviour in school can sometimes be fairly challenging, so candidates should be confident in their behaviour management stratergies. The school is in a new building, purpose built to support the needs of their students, with a small sensory room on site which can be used throughout the day, specifically when working with pupils who have autism.
The role is full time and candidates will be expected to work on a 1:1 and small group basis with pupils who have additional needs. Personal care may be required and candidates must have strong behaviour management skills. The role is long term, starting as soon as possible and school hours are 8.30am - 3.30pm. The Radcliffe based school promotes inclusivity for all and candidates applying for this role should have experience working with children or adults from a range of backgrounds.
The ideal candidate will have experience supporting children with additional needs. The candidate should be resilient, confident and have a passion for working with children who can be disengaged from education or struggle to fully engage in lessons. The candidate will be hard working, a team player and empathetic towards the needs of the students. Pay for this role is negotiable and candidates should be able to start within the next 4 weeks.
