Teaching Assistant (SEMH / Behaviour Support) Secondary School – Barnet Position: Teaching Assistant (Specialising in SEMH and Behavioural Support) Location: Barnet, North London Contract: Full-Time (Term Time Only) Salary: £93-£95 per day Start Date: Immediate / As Soon As Possible About the School: We are a thriving secondary school based in Barnet, dedicated to creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment for all students. We are currently looking for a committed and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our team, with experience in managing challenging behaviour and working with pupils who have Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The Role: In this role, you will: Work closely with students who need extra behavioural and emotional support, offering both 1:1 and small group assistance. Implement personalised strategies to help students overcome barriers to learning and improve their social skills. Assist teachers in delivering lessons and maintaining a calm, positive atmosphere within the classroom. Support students’ emotional well-being, helping them manage their emotions and build positive relationships. Collaborate with teaching staff and the SEN team to develop tailored support plans for individual students. The Ideal Candidate: This role will suit someone who thrives on working with young people with challenging behaviour while being a positive role model We are seeking someone who has: -Proven experience working with students who have SEMH needs or exhibit challenging behaviour. -A good understanding of behaviour management techniques and approaches to support emotional regulation. -Patience, resilience, and empathy, with the ability to motivate and build trust with young people. -Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team. -A genuine commitment to improving the educational outcomes of vulnerable students.
