Job Title: Teaching Assistant
Axcis are working with a large secondary school in West Dorset who are looking for an experienced Teaching Assistant to work in an SEND department working with a number of SEMH pupils providing additional support in a mainstream setting.
The SEND department is well resourced and you will be joining a team of TA's working with a wide range of SEND including ASC, SEMH and PD, all pupils are secondary aged and accessing mainstream education. Due to the age of pupils and their ability it is essential that you are educated to degree level of have significant experience working with secondary aged pupils. The school is a lovely place to work with supportive environments and has been described as having a positive and inclusive work ethos.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with children with SEND ideally as a TA. You will be a role model, mentor and daily support to the child you will be working with and will need to be able to establish a good working relationship with them. Resilience is an essential trait as some of the children have challenging behaviour. You must have a calm nature and ability to de-escalate situations. The successful candidate will be creative, flexible and patient as well as being compassionate and empathetic.
