Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to become a vital member of a primary school team in the heart of Honiton, Devon. This full-time role requires a commitment to supporting students' diverse needs, both inside and outside the classroom, from emotional and behavioural guidance to academic assistance
Responsibilities:
- Providing support to the class teacher in the delivery of lessons and classroom activities.
- Working with individual pupils or small groups to reinforce learning objectives, under the direction of the class teacher.
- Assisting with the preparation of learning materials and the classroom environment.
- Supporting children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), tailoring approaches to accommodate individual requirements.
- Monitoring and supporting student behavior, implementing school policies, and promoting positive conduct.
- Assisting with the supervision of children during non-classroom times, including lunchtime and playtime.
- Participating in relevant staff meetings and professional development opportunities.
- Building constructive relationships with parents and carers, as appropriate.
- Contributing to the wider life of the school community, supporting events and activities.
- Collaborating with other staff members to create a supportive and nurturing learning environment.
Requirements:
- Relevant experience in a primary school or educational setting.
- SEND experience is highly desirable but not mandatory.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with staff, students, and families.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- A commitment to inclusive education practices.
- A patient, positive, and pro-active approach to student engagement.
- Enhanced DBS clearance is required for this role.
