Role Overview As a behaviour classroom assistant you will provide individualised support to a designated student, helping them navigate both academic and vocational aspects of the curriculum. You will also promote emotional well-being and connection with peers, staff and their independence. Key Responsibilities • Deliver consistent 1:1 support, or small group, building a positive and trusting relationship with your assigned student. • Implement trauma-informed strategies to encourage participation in both academic and vocational activities. • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and adapt individualized support plans tailored to the student’s needs and goals. • Facilitate hands-on vocational learning opportunities, promoting practical skills and self-confidence. • Monitor progress, providing regular updates to senior staff and the student’s family. • Foster positive behavior, emotional regulation, and social skills through targeted interventions and informal interactions. • Act as a key liaison with parents/carers and external professionals, ensuring effective communication and partnership. What We’re Looking For • Experience in support work, residential care, or working with vulnerable children and adults is highly advantageous. • A strong understanding of trauma-informed approaches and restorative practices. • An appreciation for the benefits of rural and outdoor settings in promoting well-being and learning. • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and families. • Patience, empathy, and a commitment to inclusion and equality. • Ability to work flexibly and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team. • Relevant qualifications in education, social care, or youth work (desirable but not essential).
