Behaviour Mentor Teaching Assistant Location: Wandsworth, London School Type: Special School for Boys Age Range: 5 to 19 years Pupil Capacity: 120 boys Start Date: September Pay rate: Starting at £93.48 About Us: We are a specialist school catering to 120 boys aged 5 to 19 years, all of whom have an Educational Health Care Plan. Our mission is to provide a supportive and nurturing environment that helps each pupil achieve their full potential. We offer a tailored educational experience that addresses the unique needs of our students across primary, secondary, and sixth form levels. Role and Responsibilities: As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting our pupils' academic, social, and emotional development. Your duties will include: - Assisting teachers in delivering tailored educational programs. - Supporting students individually and in small groups to enhance their learning experiences. - Managing and de-escalating challenging behaviours in a calm and effective manner. - Promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment. - Helping with the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs). - Collaborating with teachers, therapists, and other staff to ensure comprehensive support for each pupil. - Accompanying and supervising students during school activities and outings. Requirements: - Experience working with children or young people with special educational needs, particularly those with social, emotional, and mental health challenges. - Ability to remain patient, empathetic, and resilient in the face of challenging behaviour. - Excellent communication and teamwork skills. - Flexibility to work across primary, secondary, and sixth form levels. - Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. Desirable: - Relevant qualifications or training in special educational needs - Experience in a special school setting.
