Job Title: Behaviour Mentor Job Type: Full-time (32.5 hours), temporary leading to permanent Location: Fishponds Salary: Competitive on PAYE, with opportunities for career development Axcis Education are looking for highly motivated behaviour mentors to support students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs within a short-term, transitional setting that supports students who face behavioural challenges to get back into mainstream education. This school in the Fishponds area aims to empower pupils to be the best person they can be by offering them a positive learning experience. This behaviour mentor position is on a 32.5 hour contract, working between the hours of 8:30 and 16:00 Monday – Friday during term-time. It is easily accessible within the City of Bristol by public transport but also has a large staff carpark to accommodate staff who would prefer to drive to work. Key Responsibilities: • Support students with SEMH needs: Provide one-to-one and group support for students facing emotional and behavioural challenges, helping them manage their emotions and regulate their behaviour in a structured environment. • Behaviour management: Work closely with other staff to implement positive behaviour management strategies, using positive reinforcement, trauma-informed practice and restorative approaches to promote positive outcomes. • Mentoring and guidance: Act as a mentor to students, helping them to set and achieve personal goals and build self-confidence. • Crisis intervention: Provide support during difficult situations, including de-escalating conflicts and managing scenarios in a calm and professional manner. Skills and Experience: The ideal candidate for this role will be able to thrive within challenging environments and will bring transferable skills from other sectors such as sports coaching, policing and security, military or youth work. In these careers paths, you will have developed skills and experience in coaching and mentoring, managing behaviour, fostering motivation and teamwork, as well as the ability to maintain calm in high-pressure situations by utilising conflict and crisis management skills with resilience and clarity.
