Job Description:
We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Behaviour Support professional, specifically trained and currently certified in TEAM TEACH, to join our team at a dynamic educational setting in Oldham. We are looking for an individual who is resilient and experienced in managing challenging behaviour, particularly within the context of SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs resulting from trauma and PTSD. As a Behaviour Support specialist, you will play a crucial role in creating a safe and nurturing environment for our students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement positive handling strategies in line with the TEAM TEACH approach.
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with SEMH needs, focusing on their well-being and academic progression.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to plan and deliver effective behavioural interventions.
- Act as a key worker for individual students, establishing trust, and fostering positive relationships.
- Develop and review Behaviour Support Plans, tailoring interventions to meet the unique needs of each student.
- Be vigilant and proactive in anticipating and preventing escalation of challenging behaviour.
- Facilitate the reintegration of students into mainstream classes by providing them with the coping strategies and skills necessary to succeed.
- Maintain accurate and thorough records of incidents, interventions, and outcomes, adhering to school policies and confidentiality standards.
- Participate in regular training, supervision, and team meetings, and contribute to the overall ethos and aims of the school.
- Engage in continuous professional development to ensure adherence to the latest best practices in behaviour management.
Essential Requirements:
- Current TEAM TEACH certification (in date).
- Proven experience working with individuals with challenging behaviour, particularly in the context of SEMH needs such as trauma and PTSD.
- Resilience and emotional intelligence to manage high-stress situations effectively.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to inclusive education practices and the well-being of all students.
- Enhanced DBS check or willingness to undergo one prior to commencement of the role.
Desirable Qualities:
- Experience in an educational or therapeutic setting, specifically with children and teenagers.
- An understanding of child development and the impact of trauma on learning and behaviour.
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to think creatively about behaviour management.
