An outstanding special school in Barnet is seeking a passionate and dedicated KS1 Class Teacher to join their team full-time from February. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a highly supportive and specialist environment, making a real difference to young learners with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
About the Role:
You will be responsible for teaching a small group of KS1 pupils with diverse and complex needs, ensuring they receive an individualised, engaging, and enriching learning experience. You will also lead a team of Teaching Assistants (TAs) to provide high-quality support tailored to each child's needs.
Your responsibilities will include:
? Planning & Delivering Outstanding Lessons – Create personalised and engaging learning experiences that foster communication, independence, and life skills.
? Providing Targeted SEND Support – Adapt teaching methods to support students with Autism (ASD), communication difficulties, and complex learning needs.
? Managing & Leading a Team – Work closely with Teaching Assistants, guiding them to effectively support student progress and wellbeing.
? Creating a Nurturing & Structured Environment – Maintain a calm, safe, and positive space where students feel supported in their learning journey.
? Safeguarding & Student Welfare – Ensure the safety, wellbeing, and emotional development of every child.
What We’re Looking For:
? QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) – Essential
? Experience working with SEND students (preferably in a specialist or primary setting)
? A calm, patient, and resilient approach under pressure
? Ability to lead and manage a team of Teaching Assistants effectively
? A creative and adaptable teaching style to meet diverse learning needs
? Strong communication skills to engage with students, staff, and parents
? Commitment to safeguarding and child welfare
