Job Description:
We are seeking a passionate and qualified History Teacher to join our dynamic team in the heart of Rochdale, Lancashire. The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic educator who can inspire and engage students with the rich tapestry of historical events and perspectives. As a History Teacher, you will be responsible for fostering a love of learning about the past and helping students understand the impact of history on the present and future.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality history education to students up to GCSE level, following the National Curriculum guidelines.
- Plan, prepare and teach well-structured lessons that cater for the needs of the whole ability range within their classes.
- Use a variety of teaching strategies to present engaging, thoughtful lessons and promote independent learning.
- Assess and record students' progress systematically and keep records to check work is understood and completed, monitor strengths and areas for development, inform planning and recognize the level at which the student is achieving.
- Set and mark homework, assessing work according to the school’s policy and with regard for the students’ abilities.
- Manage student behavior effectively to ensure a good and safe learning environment, in accordance with the school's behavior policy.
- Participate in departmental meetings, parents' evenings, and whole school training events as required.
- Foster and maintain constructive and ongoing relationships with parents and caregivers to support student progress.
Requirements:
Essential:
- Valid Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Enhanced DBS Certificate on the update service.
- Profound knowledge and thorough experience of teaching History in the UK, up to and including GSCE level.
- Proven ability to plan, deliver and assess high-impact lessons that cater to a broad range of abilities.
- Excellent classroom management skills and the capability to create an environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
- Solid organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Desirable:
- A relevant teaching degree or postgraduate qualification in history or a related subject.
- Commitment to professional development and willingness to continue learning.
- Ability to integrate technology effectively into teaching and learning.
