Job Title: Mental Health Classroom Assistant
Are you passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of children with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs? Are you looking for a role that is both rewarding and flexible? Axcis is working with a fantastic pupil referral unit in Caerphilly to recruit a Mental Health Classroom Assistant to support students aged 14 to 16 with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour. Experience supporting mental health is essential for this role. This vacancy would be ideal for individuals with experience in the following roles: • Support Workers • Police • Army • Mental Health Workers • SEMH Teaching Assistants Key Responsibilities include: • Ensuring a positive and safe learning environment that focuses on the wellbeing of the students • Supporting the students in their academic progress and emotional well-being • Adapting the support given to the needs and ability of the individual students • Effectively minimising and handling meltdowns, outbursts, and disruptive behaviour The working hours for this role are from 8.30am to 3.30pm, with an hourly rate of pay of £14.66. Please note, this role is temporary, but the school is looking to recruit someone on a long-term contract starting on the 16th of September, Monday to Friday. The school will also consider part-time candidates if they are suitable for the role. Requirements for this role include: • Experience supporting individuals with mental health needs • Strong communication and written English skills • Right to Work in the UK • Enhanced DBS on the update service, either one you currently have or can apply for as part of the process As sponsors of the National Autistic Society and other notable SEND organisations, Axcis takes its duty of care to the profession seriously, and we do our best to find only the best staff for the schools we work with.
