Job Title: Mental Health Support Specialist (Classroom-Based) Location: Oldham, Lancashire Salary: £84-£90 per day Contract Type: Full-Time Job Description: Are you passionate about supporting young individuals with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs? We are seeking an experienced and proactive Mental Health Support Specialist to join our inclusive educational setting in Oldham, Lancashire. As a Mental Health Support Specialist, you will offer vital support to students facing SEMH challenges, ensuring they can access and engage fully with the curriculum. Your role is integral to enhancing their educational outcomes and emotional well-being. Responsibilities: - Deliver personalized support to students with SEMH needs, employing a patient and understanding approach. - Work collaboratively with the teaching staff to create and sustain a supportive environment that enables students to thrive both academically and emotionally. - Apply behavior management strategies effectively to handle challenging behaviors with consistency and understanding. - Implement individual care plans, contributing valuable insights to manage and cater to each student's specific requirements. - Liaise with parents, teachers, and external agencies to coordinate comprehensive support for students. - Continually monitor and record students' progress, providing feedback and identifying any additional needs that require attention. - Facilitate group and one-to-one sessions that foster social skills, self-esteem, and academic achievement. Requirements: - A genuine interest in and commitment to working with children with SEMH needs. - Previous experience in supporting young people with challenging behaviors in an educational setting. - Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, especially in building rapport with students. - Ability to stay composed and make informed decisions in challenging situations. - Proven track record of working effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. - Strong understanding of confidentiality and safeguarding practices within a school setting. - Possession of a current Enhanced DBS on the Update Service is essential. - Relevant qualifications in youth work, counseling, psychology, or education are highly desirable.
