Job Title: Primary Higher Level Teaching Assistant
Start date: September 2024 Hours: Mon – Fri 8.30-3.30pm Pay: £100 - £120 a day We are actively recruiting for HLTAs to work in a primary school around the Exeter / Dawlish area. As a HLTA you will play a crucial role in maintaining the continuity of learning in the absence of regular teaching staff. You will be responsible for supervising classes, ensuring students remain engaged and on task, and managing classroom behaviour in accordance with school policies. You don't need to be a qualified teacher, although there are routes into qualified teacher status. You need to be confident when working with a classroom of students, able to use your own initiative, and keep your cool in potentially stressful situations. You'll work as part of a team, ensuring appropriate information is shared, and ensuring safeguarding of all students. As a primary HLTA you could lead small groups of SEND pupils or lower level learners to keep them on track. This involves adapting teaching methods to meet the child's needs and care plans. You will also support child regulation and transitioning children back in to the classroom, teaching them to engage, socialise and manage emotions. What we're looking for: • Previous experience working with children or young people is essential • Strong classroom/group management skills. • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. • A flexible and adaptable approach to work. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
