Job Title: Primary Send Teaching Assistant
Job Description: Axcis Education is seeking a passionate and dedicated Primary SEND Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant primary school located in the ST1 area. The successful candidate will work with children who have Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, providing them with support, guidance, and the encouragement they need to thrive in a learning environment. Key Responsibilities: 1. Support the educational, social, and emotional development of pupils with SEMH needs, under the direction and guidance of the classroom teacher and SENDCO. 2. Assist in the preparation and delivery of individualized education plans (IEPs) to meet the specific needs of each child. 3. Provide one-to-one support and group support within the classroom, adapting your approach to fit the strengths and needs of each pupil. 4. Work collaboratively with teachers to create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating learning environment for all students. 5. Utilize strategies to manage challenging behavior in a positive and effective manner. 6. Encourage pupils to engage in activities and to develop their self-esteem and independence. 7. Assist in monitoring the progress of pupils and report observations to the relevant staff members. 8. Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and external professionals, maintaining confidentiality and professional boundaries at all times. 9. Attend staff meetings and relevant training sessions to ensure continued professional development in SEND strategies and approaches. 10. Undertake any additional duties related to the role of Primary SEND Teaching Assistant as required by the school. Essential Criteria: - A minimum of a Level 2 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or equivalent. - Experience working with children who have SEMH needs or similar behavioral challenges. - Understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and its application within a school setting. - Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to build effective relationships with pupils, colleagues, and parents. - Patience, resilience, and a positive, proactive approach to managing challenging situations.
