Job Title: Secondary Teaching Assistant - SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) Location: Preston, Lancashire Contract Type: Full-Time, Long-Term --- ### About the Role: We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Secondary Teaching Assistant with a specialisation in Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) to join a well-regarded educational institution in Preston, Lancashire. This full-time, long-term position requires an individual who can provide support to students experiencing a range of SEMH challenges, to help them achieve their personal and educational goals within a secondary school setting. ### Key Responsibilities: - Provide tailored support to students with SEMH needs, facilitating their academic and social development. - Work closely with the teaching staff to implement individual education plans and behaviour management strategies. - Assist students in understanding and managing their emotions and behaviour, promoting resilience, and developing positive coping strategies. - Facilitate small group activities and one-to-one sessions aimed at enhancing learning outcomes and personal growth. - Act as a role model, mentor, and advocate for students, working to create a safe and inclusive learning environment. - Monitor and report on students' progress, providing feedback to teachers, parents, and other professionals as necessary. - Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team including teachers, SENCO, educational psychologists, and other healthcare professionals. - Participate in training and development activities to enhance knowledge and skills related to SEMH. ### Requirements: - Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or similar role with SEMH students within a secondary school environment. - Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage and inspire young people. - Patience, empathy, and a resilient nature, capable of managing challenging behaviour positively. - A relevant qualification in teaching assistance or special educational needs is highly desirable. - An Enhanced DBS check. ### Our Commitment: We are committed to providing a supportive and nurturing environment where all staff and students can thrive.
