Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistants
Axcis Education are working with a SEMH Specialist School based in Harrogate, the school are looking for an energetic and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant on a full-time basis.
The provision caters for a diverse group of learners aged 9-16 with complex communication, cognition and learning needs. The school offers a broad and balanced curriculum using a nurture based approach.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience working with pupils with social, emotional and mental health difficulties, autism and attachment disorders, we are looking for someone who is able to quickly establish positive working relationships, engage and inspire!
Key Responsibilities:
Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with SEMH needs, both inside and outside the classroom.
Implement behaviour management strategies and interventions in accordance with the principles of Team Teach.
Support the delivery of differentiated instruction to meet the diverse needs of students.
Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel supported and valued.
Collaborate with teachers, therapeutic team, and other support staff to develop and implement individualised education plans and behaviour support plans.
Actively participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills in supporting students with SEMH need's.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Previous experience working with students with SEMH needs.
A UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents/carers.
Patience, resilience, and a calm demeanour, especially in challenging situations.
Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of students and the school environment.
A commitment to promoting inclusion, diversity, and equality in education.
