Axcis are working closely with a wonderful client whom are seeking a dedicated and passionate SEN Teaching Assistant for their special needs team located in the charming city of Bath, Somerset. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the inclusion of pupils with a range of special educational needs and disabilities. This is an ideal position for someone with experience in managing challenging behaviour and who is looking to make a significant impact in the lives of young learners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide targeted support to students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) within a classroom setting or on a one-to-one basis.
- Implement individualised learning plans and interventions under the direction of the class teacher to facilitate students' educational and behavioural development.
- Assist in managing challenging behaviours in a positive and constructive manner, promoting a safe and supportive learning environment for all students.
- Collaborate with other staff members, therapists, and professionals to plan and coordinate effective support strategies.
- Monitor and record students' progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents/guardians as required.
- Encourage the independence, self-confidence, and social integration of SEN students.
- Help to prepare and organize learning materials and resources.
- Support the overall wellbeing of students, assisting with personal care needs as necessary.
- Contribute to the wider school community, participating in activities, outings, and events.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children with SEN, particularly with challenging behaviours, is essential.
- A relevant qualification in Special Educational Needs, teaching assistant certificate, or equivalent experience.
- A patient, resilient, and adaptable approach to working with children with diverse needs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with students, staff, and parents.
- Commitment to the safeguarding and welfare of all pupils.
- A proactive mindset, ready to engage fully with the dynamic school environment.
