Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant - Torbay
Axcis Education are looking for a Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) Teaching Assistant to work in a secondary provision with learners aged 11 to 16 years old and whose needs cannot be met within a mainstream environment. Experience of working with children is desirable but not essential. This is a full-time role, working Monday to Friday (8.30-16.00). However, for the right candidates, there is also a flexibility to work part time. Rate of pay will vary from £90-£100 for this position, depending on your previous experience and qualifications.
The secondary school provides placements for young people in the Torbay area (non-EHCP) who exhibit social, emotional and behavioural concerns. The academy implements a strong wrap-around approach to enable their learners to build their confidence, overcome barriers to their learning and progress to a positive next step in their lives. This is centred around a personalised curriculum, through high quality teaching, to ensure pupils are engaged and motivated to achieve their goals. Additionally, the school have an emphasis on preparing their pupils for the wider world. The school promote key life skills so that they have the confidence and tools to reach their full potential – not just as learners, but as citizens, too.
Your role as a teaching assistant will involve establishing fantastic relationships with pupils in an alternative education provision. You will be motivated to support pupils to achieve their goals. You will be an excellent role model and show a passion for learning and implementing new strategies to support the pupils you are working with. The successful candidate will also show an enthusiasm to establish themselves within the school, offering to support the school with day-to-day activities.
