Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant
Calling all experienced teaching assistants! Looking for your next exciting role? Then look no further! Axcis Education are proud to be working with a fantastic Secondary School in Taunton who are looking for a SEND Teaching Assistant to work in their resource base. The school is in a fantastic location, easily accessible via local public transport links. This role will be supporting various students with autism across the year groups and would be ideal for someone who has experience working in schools. The ideal candidate will be proactive, understanding, and passionate about supporting young people. Working hours are between 8.30 to 3.30 and the daily rate of pay is £83.40.
Responsibilities include:
- Effectively handling challenging behaviour and meltdowns using de-escalation techniques
- Differentiating the curriculum to suit the specific needs and abilities of the students
- Collaborating with the teachers and wider school staff to work towards the student’s Education Healthcare Plans (EHCPs)
- Ensuring a positive and safe learning environment that focuses on the wellbeing of the students
Requirements for this role include experience working with children or adults with SEND, caring and empathetic individuals, strong communication and written English skills, an Enhanced DBS on the update service.
Axcis offers training that will help you to move from mainstream to SEND easily. Our training includes, but is not limited to; Autism Awareness, Moving and Handling and Non-verbal Communication. We also offer Team Teach courses run by our own accredited in-house Team Teach trainers.
