Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant
Job Title: Teaching Assistant – Year 4 Class (ASC and Whole Class Support) Location: Christchurch, Hampshire Hours: Full Time, 08:30 – 15:30 Start Date: ASAP An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school located in Christchurch, Hampshire. The successful candidate will be working with a Year 4 class, providing both whole class support and assistance to pupils with Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC). Responsibilities: - Work under the direction of the class teacher to support and enhance the learning and well-being of students within the Year 4 class. - Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with ASC, adapting methods and materials to meet their individual needs and abilities. - Facilitate an inclusive and supportive environment that enables all pupils to participate fully in classroom activities. - Monitor and record student progress, reporting any concerns or achievements to the class teacher. - Assist the class teacher in preparing materials and setting up activities for daily lessons. - Supervise and support students during non-classroom times including lunchtime and play periods. - Implement school behaviour management policies and strategies, helping to ensure a safe and positive learning environment. - Liaise with parents, guardians, and other staff members to support student learning and development. - Attend staff meetings, training, and professional development sessions as required. - Perform administrative tasks as needed, such as photocopying, filing, and maintaining classroom resources. Qualifications and Skills: - NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools is preferred. - Prior experience working with children, especially those with ASC, is highly desirable. - Strong understanding of the primary curriculum and ability to employ a variety of educational techniques. - Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work cooperatively with students, staff, and parents. - A patient, caring, and creative individual with the capacity to motivate and engage children. - A firm commitment to child safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. - Ability to work flexibly and adaptively to meet the changing needs of the pupils and the school.
