Job Title: SEND Youth Support Worker
SEND Youth Support Worker Location: Bath, Somerset Start Date: January 2025, range of opportunities available within this school. Salary: Competitive, based on experience We are currently seeking dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistants to join our team at a large special school located in the beautiful city of Bath, Somerset. The school caters to a diverse group of students across various age groups, each with unique learning requirements. This opportunity is ideal for individuals who are passionate about providing one-on-one support and conducting small group interventions to help students achieve their full potential. Key Responsibilities: - Work closely with the classroom teacher to provide instructional support to individual students or small groups, promoting a healthy learning environment. - Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students with special educational needs. - Facilitate students' learning by adapting teaching methods and materials to meet the diverse needs and abilities of students in your care. - Encourage and support students' academic, social, and emotional development through proactive engagement and positive reinforcement. - Monitor and report on students' progress to teachers and parents, assisting in the assessment process as required. - Assist with the preparation of teaching materials, classroom setup, and maintenance to ensure a well-organised, functional learning space. - Provide for the personal care needs of students as needed, while fostering independence. - Implement school policies and procedures regarding student behaviour and classroom management, maintaining a safe and inclusive learning environment. - Participate in school meetings and professional development workshops to continually enhance your skills and knowledge in special education. The Ideal Candidate Will Have: - Relevant experience in a special education setting and/or a recognized Teaching Assistant qualification. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, staff, and parents. - Patience, resilience, and understanding, particularly when working with students with special educational needs. - A proactive and enthusiastic approach to learning and teaching support. - The ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team. - A commitment to the school's ethos and values, with a passion for making a positive impact on the lives of young people.
