Job Title: Teaching Assistant - PRU
Teaching Assistant – PRU (Ages 14-17)
Sites: Greenford and White City
Full-time: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM | Long-term commitment | Immediate Start
Are you an experienced teaching assistant with strong behaviour management skills, looking to make a difference in a challenging yet rewarding setting? Axcis Education is seeking a dedicated TA to support students aged 14-17 in a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU), many of whom have Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
In this role, you will provide crucial support to young people, helping them overcome behavioural challenges and re-engage with their education. The ideal candidate will have experience in managing challenging behaviour, a deep understanding of SEMH, and a commitment to helping young people succeed.
Key Responsibilities:
-Provide one-to-one or small group support for students with SEMH needs, helping them stay engaged with l--Learning and manage their behaviour.
-Assist the teacher in maintaining a structured and safe classroom environment.
-Implement strategies to help students regulate their emotions and behaviour, including positive reinforcement and de-escalation techniques.
-Encourage positive behaviour and social skills, supporting students to develop essential coping mechanisms.
-Build strong relationships with students, acting as a trusted mentor and role model.
What We’re Looking For:
-Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, ideally with a focus on behaviour management and SEMH support.
-Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with students who present challenging behaviour.
-A calm, patient, and empathetic approach, with the ability to de-escalate challenging situations.
-A commitment to supporting students’ emotional and academic development.
-Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to apply for one).
