Role Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated teaching assistant to provide specialised support for a student with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs. This role is vital in helping the student navigate daily challenges and enhance their overall school experience. You will work closely with the classroom teacher to create an environment where the student feels safe, understood, and engaged.
In this position, your responsibilities will include:
Personalised Support: Collaborate with the teacher to develop and implement individualised learning plans that address the student’s unique emotional and academic needs. You will be working in a 1:1 environment with the student.
Behaviour Management: Utilize positive behaviour support strategies to help the student manage their emotions and behaviours, fostering a sense of self-regulation and resilience.
Social Skills Development: Assist the student in building social skills through structured activities and peer interactions, helping the student practice essential communication skills.
Collaboration: Work closely with other staff members, including special education professionals and therapists, to ensure a comprehensive approach to the student’s needs.
Requirements:
• Experience working with students who exhibit social, emotional, and mental health challenges is preferred.
• Understanding of strategies to support students’ well-being and academic success.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• A compassionate and patient approach to supporting vulnerable learners.
