Job Title: Teaching Assistant with Music Background
Position: Teaching Assistant (Music) - ASD Department Location: Secondary School, Barnet Type: Full-Time, Mon-Fri Start Date: September A vibrant and inclusive secondary school in Barnet is recruiting fro a teaching assistant with a strong musical background. Their ASD department focuses on supporting students with autism to ensure they thrive both academically and personally. The role will be supporting students on a 2:1 basis with moderate to severe autism. Role and Responsibilities: As a Teaching Assistant in the ASD department, you will: • Provide individual and group support to students with ASD, tailored to their specific needs. • Utilise your music background to develop and implement engaging musical activities and programmes that enhance students' learning experiences. • Assist in the planning and delivery of lessons, working closely with teachers and other staff members. • Help manage classroom behaviour and create a positive, inclusive learning environment. • Support students with their social and emotional development, using music as a therapeutic tool where appropriate. • Create a nurturing atmosphere, promoting independence and self-confidence in students. • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and other school activities as required. Requirements: • Previous experience working with students with ASD, preferably in a secondary school setting. • A strong background in music, with the ability to incorporate musical elements into teaching and support. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents. • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting students with special educational needs. • A proactive and flexible approach to work, with the ability to adapt to changing situations and needs. • Relevant qualifications or training in special educational needs and/or music would be advantageous.
