Job Title: Teaching Assistant
Job Title: Teaching Assistant Salary: £85-£95 per day Job Type: Full time Monday-Friday Location: Bridport, Dorset We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our mainstream primary school located in the heart of Bridport, Dorset. The ideal candidate will work closely with our students, including those with ASD, to provide tailored support and create an inclusive educational environment. Key Responsibilities: - Work 1-1 with ASD pupils, addressing their individual learning needs and helping them to achieve their full potential. - Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students requiring additional support. - Collaborate with the class teacher to manage a classroom of 30 pupils, ensuring all students are engaged and supported in their learning. - Support the class teacher with lesson preparation, delivery, and assessment. - Facilitate a safe and positive learning environment for all students. - Utilize strategies such as PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System) or Makaton to aid communication with students, where necessary. - Assist with the integration of speech and language therapy techniques in collaboration with our in-house specialist, to enhance pupils' communication skills. - Participate in school-wide activities and events, promoting the values and objectives of our educational establishment. - Maintain regular communication with parents, colleagues, and senior leadership team (SLT) to ensure consistent support for our students. - Engage in continuous professional development to improve skills and effectiveness as a Teaching Assistant. Desired Qualifications and Skills: - Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, particularly in a mainstream primary school setting. - Experience or strong interest in working with children with ASD and the application of person-centered approaches. - Knowledge of or experience with communication systems such as PECS or Makaton is preferable. - Ability to work collaboratively with a supportive SLT and a dedicated team of educators. - Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with pupils, staff, and parents. - A calm, patient, and caring demeanour, with the ability to manage challenging situations sensitively.
