Job Title: Teaching Assistant Location: Sherborne, Dorset Pay: £90 per day PAYE Job Description: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a charming rural primary school located in the picturesque surroundings of Sherborne, Dorset. The ideal candidate will be tasked with providing both academic and emotional support to young learners, contributing to a nurturing environment where each child can thrive and reach their full potential. Key Responsibilities: - Assist the classroom teacher in the planning and execution of lessons, ensuring that all activities align with the curriculum guidelines. - Support the teacher in the management of student behaviour by promoting and reinforcing classroom rules and expectations. - Monitor students’ progress, providing feedback to the teacher, and identifying any issues that require additional attention. - Assist with the preparation of instructional materials and resources required for lessons, projects, and other classroom activities. - Accommodate and modify learning activities for students with special needs, under the guidance of the classroom teacher and special education staff. - Supervise students during non-classroom times, including during lunch breaks, recess, and field trips, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times. - Encourage social interaction and proper conduct among students, fostering an atmosphere of respect and kindness. - Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development sessions as required. - Assist with administrative tasks such as grading, record-keeping, and other duties as directed by the classroom teacher or school administration. - Collaborate with the school staff and parents to support student development and address individual student needs. Qualifications and Skills: - NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or related fields. - Experience working with children in an educational setting is preferred. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling positive relationships with children, colleagues, and parents. - Patience, flexibility, and the ability to respond to the varying needs of children. - Knowledge of the primary education curriculum and classroom management techniques is advantageous. - Proficient in basic computer skills. - A commitment to continuous professional development. - An enhanced DBS check is required for this position.
