Job Title: Teaching Assistant
SEN Teaching assistant opportunities for Special needs school in Swindon
Are you looking for full or part time work and interested in working in a special needs school in Swindon?
We have opportunities at one where you would be supporting their pupils on a 1:1 basis and ages you work with will widely vary between primary and secondary ages. The school caters to a wide variety of diagnosis' as per the course of most special needs schools. Pupils can be as young as 4 up to the age of 19 and look at ways to develop not just school curriculum for the students but also social and emotional development and cognitive functions. The school supports students with autism to PMLD and challenging behaviours. They widely use Makaton throughout the school so anyone with a good knowledge of this form of sign would be advantageous.
The school has great outdoor spaces for students, sensory rooms and a swimming pool along with a skills café for older students to learn vital life skills to better introduce them to working life. We are looking for people that want to make a real and tangible difference to vulnerable young lives. We are looking for;
- People with experience in special needs either from a school or care based background.
- Knowledge in Makaton or signalong would be desirable.
- People with a warm and patient disposition, who love the reward of working with young people with additional needs.
- Flexible attitude and happy to go where needed.
- Any formal training or qualifications are also desirable but experience is what matters most here.
- An enhanced DBS on the update service, should you not have one, you must be willing to apply for one.
