Job Title: Teaching Assistant
Job Title: Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Teaching Assistant Location: Salisbury, Wiltshire Salary: £90 per day About the role: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to support students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in Salisbury, Wiltshire. This is a full-time position where the ideal candidate will be confident and experienced in working with children who have faced trauma and display challenging behaviors. Key Responsibilities: - Provide tailored support to students with SEMH needs, ensuring they can access the curriculum and participate fully in school life. - Work closely with the lead teacher to plan and execute interventions that cater to individual student needs. - Create a safe and supportive learning environment for students who have experienced trauma. - Implement positive behavior management strategies, and help students develop emotional regulation and coping skills. - Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including teachers, counselors, and external agencies to support the wellbeing and educational progress of students. - Monitor and report on students’ progress both academically and socially. - Assist with the preparation of teaching materials and setting up learning environments. - Accompany and support students during various activities both within and outside the classroom environment. - Adhere to school policies and procedures, including safeguarding and confidentiality. Qualifications & Skills: - A patient, resilient, and empathetic approach to working with children. - Previous experience working as a SEND Teaching Assistant or similar role, particularly with SEMH or trauma-affected children. - Strong understanding of safeguarding principles and commitment to safeguarding practices. - Excellent communication and teamwork skills. - The ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations. - Relevant NVQ level or equivalent is desirable but not essential. - Enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
