Job Title: Teaching Assistant
Job Title: Teaching Assistant Location: Yeovil, Somerset Hours: Full-time, 8:15 AM – 4:00 PM, Monday to Friday We are currently looking for a compassionate and experienced Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated 1:1 support for a student with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in Yeovil, Somerset. This role is crucial in facilitating the inclusion and advancement of a student requiring tailored support due to trauma and challenging behaviours. Key Responsibilities: - Provide individual support to a student with SEMH, ensuring they can access the curriculum effectively. - Develop a trusting relationship with the student to foster a positive learning environment. - Work closely with the primary teacher to monitor the student's progress and adapt learning strategies as needed. - Implement the school's behaviour management policies and de-escalation techniques to maintain a safe and respectful learning atmosphere. - Prepare learning materials that suit the individual needs of the student. - Assist the student in developing social skills by promoting positive interactions with their peers. - Provide consistent feedback to the teacher and relevant professionals about the student's development, behaviour, and emotional well-being. - Attend and contribute to the development of Individual Education Plans or equivalent documents for the student. Qualifications and Experience: - Experience with 1:1 support, particularly working with students who have experienced trauma or exhibit challenging behaviours. - NVQ Level 2 or 3 for Teaching Assistants (or equivalent qualification) or relevant experience in a similar role. - Knowledge and understanding of the complexities associated with SEND and SEMH. - Training in safeguarding and understanding the legalities around health and safety in a school setting. - Proven ability to work under the direction of a teacher and collaborate with other professionals. - Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with both children and adults.
