Job Title: Teaching Assistant Hours: Part-time hours Location: Honiton, Devon Job Description: We are currently looking for a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our team in Honiton, Devon. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing 1:1 support to a pupil with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a significant impact on a student's educational experience and well-being. Key Responsibilities: - Provide 1:1 support to a pupil with identified SEMH needs, ensuring they feel safe, supported and able to engage in learning. - Assist in the development and implementation of individual education and behaviour management plans. - Recognise when the pupil requires regulation breaks and facilitate these effectively, promoting a calming environment to help the pupil manage their emotions. - Use creative and innovative methods to embed learning, including play and activities that align with the student's interests, to maintain engagement and support educational development. - Work closely with the classroom teacher to adapt lessons and materials that cater to the pupil's individual learning style and needs. - Monitor the pupil's progress and provide feedback to the teacher, parents and other relevant professionals. - Collaborate with other staff members to ensure a cohesive approach to the pupil's education and well-being. - Foster a nurturing and safe learning environment that respects all students' needs and diversity. - Attend and contribute to relevant meetings and training sessions as required. Qualifications and Skills: - Experience working with children or young people, particularly those with SEMH needs. - Strong understanding of the strategies required to support pupils with behavioural and emotional challenges. - NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or equivalent qualification is preferred but not essential. - Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build rapport with students, staff, and parents. - A caring, patient, and flexible approach to working with children. - Commitment to ongoing professional development and learning. - Must have a valid DBS check or be willing to undergo one.
