Axcis are seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a student with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in St Helens. This is a full-time, long-term position that offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on the life of a student by providing tailored support and encouragement.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide one-to-one support for a student with ASD, assisting with their academic, social, and emotional development.
• Implement and follow individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to the student’s specific needs.
• Support the student in managing their behaviour and developing coping strategies.
• Collaborate with teachers, parents, and specialists to ensure a consistent and effective approach to the student’s education and well-being.
• Assist with classroom activities, helping to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
• Monitor and record the student’s progress, providing regular feedback to relevant stakeholders.
Requirements:
• Previous experience working with children with ASD or other special educational needs.
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the educational development of students with special needs.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
• Relevant qualifications in education or special educational needs support are highly desirable.
