Job Title: Complex Needs Teaching Assistant
Axcis Education have an exciting new opportunity for the right candidate to become a long term SEND teaching assistant at a SEND school in the Teignbridge area (EX7). The role is a full-time primary, teaching assistant working in the lower level of the school with KS1 or KS2. The class sizes are maximum of 10 pupils with 1 teacher and a teaching assistant. The classes are split into ages with mixed needs in every class such as ASD, Complex Needs, delicate students, sensory impairments, speech, and communication impairments and learning difficulties. The school is a big SEND school catering for pupils from 3 – 19yrs. They have wonderful grounds including a little forest school for the primary learners, a big forest school for the upper division as well as a hydro – pool, sports centre, extensive playground, sensory rooms, and Fun Floors! They also have a therapy dog onsite along with chickens in the garden area. To top it off the view of the seaside town from the premises is amazing too! As a teaching assistant you will be supporting around 10 pupils in their education. They follow the national curriculum completing numeracy, literacy, reading programmes and other subjects but may be at a lower level of learning. You will be following the Teachers lesson plan as well as assisting the children’s emotional, learning, and social difficulties. You may use PEC cards, virtual white boards and sensory objects or toys to engage the class. Most importantly you must be compassionate, caring and up for a challenge! This is a full time role, working Monday to Friday from 8:45 to 3:45. You must be able to travel to EX7 for a 8:30 start. The school have parking on site and are also assessable using local transport. The rate of pay is a daily rate of around £75 - £85.
