Job Title: Down Syndrome - Teaching Assistant
Position: Teaching Assistant for Down Syndrome Location: SEND Primary School, Hillingdon Working Hours: Full-time, 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM (Monday to Friday) Pay Rate: £93.48 per day Axcis are seeking a experienced, compassionate and dedicated teaching assistant to support a child with Down syndrome,.The SEND school is situated in Hillingdon. The school prides itself on creating a nurturing and inclusive environment where all pupils can excel both academically and personally. They are seeking a teaching assistant to join their team and provide outstanding 1:1 support for a primary-aged pupil with Down syndrome. Role Overview As a teaching assistant, you will work closely with the child to help them access the curriculum, develop social skills, and achieve their full potential in a supportive, inclusive setting. Key Responsibilities -Provide one-to-one support for a child with Down syndrome in line with their Education Health Care Plan. -Assist in implementing personalized learning plans and adapting classroom activities to suit the child’s individual needs. -Support the child in developing communication and social skills. -Work collaboratively with the class teacher and SENCO to monitor and record progress. -Ensure the child’s well-being and safety at all times. -Foster a positive, inclusive learning environment. -Provide personal care as required. Requirements -Have an enhanced DBS on the update service. -Previous experience working with children with special educational needs (SEN), especially Down syndrome. -Understanding of EHCPs and experience in implementing tailored support plans. -Patience, empathy, and a passion for working with children. -Great communication skills, with knowledge of Makaton and PECS being beneficial. -Ability to work full-time during school hours (8:30 AM - 4:00 PM). -A relevant qualification in education or childcare is desirable but not essential.
